What is Naturopathic Care?
Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) merge the best of modern science and natural therapies to support the body's innate ability to heal itself given the proper conditions. We focus on health-forward, wellness-based care that seeks to amplify health and well-being in mind, body, and spirit. The foundations of care NDs provide is based upon helping clients' establish the conditions for health in a sustainable manner. In partnership with clients' we help remove obstacles contributing to long-term health concerns, stimulate the body's self-healing capabilities, correct the structural integrity of the body, and restore health through use of natural substances such has herbs, supplements, & homeopathic remedies.
What kind of training do NDs recieve?
Naturopathic Doctors whether practicing in a licensed or unlicensed state attend a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program accredited federally, regionally, and by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME); this degree should not be confused with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) which refers to a Conventional Allopathic Doctor. Naturopathic medicine programs are rigorous 4-5 year programs where trainees learn all of the fundamentals of health sciences including anatomy/physiology, pathology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, along with many other topics including those focused on all of the naturopathic therapies NDs provide and recommend to their clients'. This education is upwards of 5,000 hours in total according to the American Association of Naturopathic Medical Colleges (AANMC); 1,500 hours of which is dedicated to the Naturopathic clinical internship where students hone their skills in outpatient clinics with extensive clinical supervision and advising.
How do NDs approach health & healing?
NDs start with the unshakeable knowing in the healing power of nature (vis medicatrix naturae) and that by amplifying this innate intelligence, the body can return to health when given the proper conditions and support. We do this by bridging the laws of nature with modern science and natural methods of health promotion and health optimization.
